Laurie Lasky, Director
Laurie received her B.A. in Sociology and Women's Studies from the College at New Paltz, University of New York, and her Master of Social Work from the University of New York at Stony Brook.
After graduating from New Paltz, she worked at an early childhood program which served both regular and special needs pre-school children. In this position, Laurie worked both with parents in their homes and directly with children in the classroom. Her head teacher was an enormously talented teacher who provided Laurie with invaluable developmental training. At Stony Brook, she worked for two years as an assistant teacher (children ages 2-5) at the university's child care center. Here she had the good fortune to again be mentored by another remarkable woman, the center director, whose guidance and coaching greatly augmented Laurie's foundation for her career in early childhood education.
Laurie married in 1984 and moved into Brookline Village. After starting her own family, she opened the doors of her home as Little Feet Daycare in 1990, and has since served nearly 300 families in the area. Laurie's continued commitment to her work is fueled by her love of young children and their development, as well as her passion for supporting growing families.
Adriana Ramirez
After nearly three years at Little Feet, Adriana will be moving on and joining the staff of Bright Horizons in Watertown starting in September of 2011. We will be sad to see her go. She joined our staff in January of 2009, then a recent graduate of the University of Vermont. She soon discovered her love of working with young children while working as a part-time assistant in another Brookline family daycare program. It was our good fortune that Adriana sought a second part-time position and joined the staff at Little Feet. Passionate about her work with children, she has been a quiet, gentle and loving presence at Little Feet, providing tremendous warmth and a sense of security to all who entered her orbit. Thank you, Adriana for nearly three years of dedicated service to the children and families of Little Feet.
Lauren Remmers
We are thrilled to announce that Lauren Remmers will be stepping into the role of full-time leadteacher at the end of August 2011. The newest member of our staff, Lauren has been working atLittle Feet on a part-time basis since September of 2010. A professional musician by training, Lauren first entered the early childhood field upon completion of her graduate work in the Spring of 2010. Volunteering at a homeless shelter in Boston, Lauren worked with the young children there and began to fall in love with the work. Likewise, when Lauren applied for a part-time position at Little Feet, we fell in love with her.
Alex
Lasky
Alex has been assisting at Little Feet on a part-time basis since March of 2004. Having grown up surrounded by Little Feet (Alex is Laurie's oldest son), Alex is very much at home working in the program. In addition to many years of babysitting for numerous Brookline families, Alex worked for five summers at Ramapo for Children, a program located in Rhinebeck, N.Y. which serves special needs children ages four through sixteen years. After studying psychology at UMass Dartmouth for three semesters, Alex returned to Brookline in December of 2005. He resumed working part time at Little Feet in January of 2006. Alex is currently a psychology major at UMass Boston, works as a life guard and swim teacher at the Brookline public swimming pool, and remains a part-time member of the Little Feet staff. Alex’s love of teaching, coupled with his compassionate heart and the capacity to love unconditionally, make him a great asset to our program.
Liz Gillott
In the summer of 2009, Little Feet was graced with the addition of Liz Gillott as Laurie’s full time Assistant Teacher. A 2007 graduate of McGill University, Liz majored in psychology and following her graduation worked for nearly 1 ½ years with children ages 4 through 12 as a residential counselor at the Italian Home for Children. Liz has also worked with kids of all ages, from infants to school-aged children, in a variety of programs run through the Newton Community Service Center. With a heart as big as her smile, Liz has a steady, calm presence, that combined with her great love of children and knowledge of early childhood development have made her a great addition to our staff. In September 2010, Liz will be leaving Little Feet to begin a Master’s of Social Work program at BU. Liz will remain on staff as a substitute teacher during her graduate training.
Sadie
Following nearly a year of gradual and careful training, Sadie joined the staff of Little Feet Daycare in the fall of 2002. Since that time, Sadie has been a source of comfort, love and companionship to over 100 children. Sadie turned eight in August of 2009 and remains the most gentle and beloved member of our staff. She is an exemplary model of patience, tolerance and unconditional love.
